The Yungkurrinthi Indigenous Commencing Student Payment aims to increase the participation and retention of Indigenous commencing undergraduate and postgraduate students who are enrolled in their first-degree program at Flinders University. The scholarship provides financial assistance towards education costs for Indigenous students enrolled at Flinders University.
The scholarship is funded by the Shirley Matthews Indigenous Education Fund.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. The scholarship will have a value of $500 to be paid in a single instalment after the census date of the first semester of study. 200 scholarships will be available in 2025. From 2026 onwards 20 scholarships per annum will be available subject to funding.

The scholarship will be awarded in order of completed applications. The scholarship will continue to be awarded until the annual quota is filled.
