The DEAL Fellows component is a subset of the Supporting Young Professionals in Public Health to Thrive programme of the West African Institute of Public Health which is predicated upon the need to build the capacity of young people in public health in order to achieve universal health coverage.
The vision driving this programme is to grow a network of motivated, design thinking, equity-driven, action-oriented learning leaders who can amplify voices and perspectives of the underserved and unreached through active learnership, innovation and ideas execution in Africa’s health systems. The DEAL Fellowship is primarily an extractive approach to engaging young professionals on their expertise in a fellowships system, where they will undergo intensive leadership coaching through training and mentoring while working with the Institution’s lower strata of Young Professionals in Public Health, such as the virtual interns and health literacy leadership participants by providing professional and technical support for their projects.
The West African Institute of Public Health (WAIPH) is a non-state and not for profit regional health development organisation (RHDO) strengthening public health systems, enhancing the enabling environment and developing the requisite professional capacity to ensure the performance of public health functions in the West Africa region. The DEAL Fellowship is primarily an extractive approach to engaging young professionals on their expertise in a fellowships system, where they will undergo intensive leadership coaching through training and mentoring while working with the Institution’s lower strata of Young Professionals in Public Health, such as the virtual interns and health literacy leadership participants by providing professional and technical support for their projects.
1. Only applicants who can think innovatively and out of the box are welcome to apply. You are welcome to convince us at the interview.
2. Applicants should have a minimum of first degree and 5 years’ work experience or a master’s degree with a 3years’ work experience.
3. Applicants must be between the ages 0f 30-40 years at time of application.
4. Ability to work with little or no supervision, coordinate and organise activities.
5. Possess an excellent interpersonal skills and strong team leadership.
Selection Criteria:
ICT-compliant mid-level public health (and public health enthusiastic) professionals with a proven record in their career and a good command of English Language are welcome.
