UT Dallas offers Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES) each year to incoming first-time-in-college freshman students admitted for the fall term immediately following high school graduation. Students are automatically considered for an AES award on the basis of their completed application to the university; while a separate scholarship application is not required, students are encouraged to include supplemental materials such as an essay, a resume, and up to three letters of recommendation. Students are awarded AES on the basis of overall academic accomplishments, community involvement, leadership and distinction in extracurricular activities, work experiences and/or any national recognition or achievement.
