University of St Andrews 2025 International Undergraduate Scholarship (Up to £10,000)

The University of St Andrews entrant scholarship is for international students who will be studying at St Andrews for an undergraduate degree. The scholarship will be awarded as a tuition fee reduction per year for each year of the student's undergraduate studies and will be awarded on the basis of financial need.

At what stage of my course application can I apply for this scholarship?

You can apply for the scholarship after you have submitted your course application for a place at the University of St Andrews. You do not need to wait until you have received an offer of a place before applying for the scholarship.

University of St Andrews International Undergraduate Scholarship Courses


Requirements for University of St Andrews International Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must meet two or more of the following criteria:

  • Be able to demonstrate a case for financial need.
  • Have previously received needs-based funding.
  • Come from a neighbourhood which is classed as a socio-economically disadvantaged area.
  • Be able to provide evidence a first class grade point average (GPA).
  • Have a proven record of academic excellence and show future leadership potential.
  • Be able to demonstrate non-academic achievement and/or leadership qualities, e.g. in music, theatre, sport or civic duties.
  • Have a physical, unseen or learning disability.
  • Be part of a minority group.

Information received in the application will be taken into consideration as part of the overall review process, and none taken in isolation. This information will only be used for the purpose of scholarship assessment.

Selection is on the basis of financial need and/or academic excellence. Please articulate or evidence all of the following that apply to you in the application form.

Mode of study: Full time, Part time - daytime

Geographical criteria: All non-UK nations

Additional criteria

Selection is on the basis of financial need.

As part of the application you will be asked to upload the following document:

Household Income: Evidence of the income stated in your scholarship application as total household income. Provide all relevant forms of income for the current or most recent full year: employment/wage/salary statements (most recent three months), tax certificates or returns, confirmation letters from Department of Work and Pensions, award letters from Social Security Scotland, letters from local government, Council Tax statement, Tax credits, PIP, DLA, dividends, pension, annuity, where evidence is not available please provide bank statements/E-statements (most recent three months) to show receipt of income. Preferably pdf or similar small file size format and in English.

It is extremely important that you apply to us for funding giving complete and accurate information.

Your course and funding application are not linked, applying for funding in no way impedes your course application decision.

 

Duration of award

This award is paid annually for the duration of the student's undergraduate programme.

Interested and qualified? Go to University of St Andrews on www.st-andrews.ac.uk to apply

This scholarship is available for application via the International Undergraduate scholarship through the scholarships and funding catalogue in the Scholarships and Funding section of My application.

After you have applied to a new course beginning in the academic year 2025, you will be provided with login details for the My application portal. You must allow at least two working days for processing and issue of your log in details before you can apply for this scholarship.

Information for USA applicants

If you are including a Student Aid Report (SAR) with your scholarship application, please upload this in place of the household income evidence requested in the scholarship application form. To find out how to complete the FAFSA and receive your Student Aid Report, or for general information about US loans, please visit the Loans for US students webpages.

This copy of your student aid report is for your scholarship application only and will not be transferred to the University’s Finance Department for processing your loan application.

International countries

Household income will be assessed on below average country specific income rates, please convert your local currency to Pounds (GBP) and indicate the exchange rate used in the application. We recommend using the funding financial profile to help calculate your household income before applying.

When will I know the outcome?

The outcome of your scholarship application will be available on ‘View my applications’ in the Scholarships and Funding section of My Application by mid March 2025.
