The University of Queensland (UQ) has initiated PhD scholarship: Production of valuable chemicals from gaseous waste for all students to provide financial assistance.
Project Description: This project aims to develop innovative biotechnology to enable the conversion of waste carbon dioxide into industry-relevant liquid chemicals. The PhD projects will focus on the development, operation, and characterization of pure and mixed culture fermentation systems at both bench and pilot scales. Training will be multidisciplinary, involving microbiology (molecular and -omics techniques), electrochemistry and material science, bioprocess design, control, and optimization. The candidates will work across the Advanced Water Management Centre and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology.

Successful applicants of the PhD scholarship: Production of Valuable Chemicals from Gaseous Waste 2021 will receive a Living stipend scholarship of $28,597 per annum (2021 rate), indexed annually.
Scholarship Duration: Three years with the possibility of two 6-month extensions.
