Applications are now open for the University of Kent 2025 Postgraduate Research Scholarships. Severe drought and extreme summer temperatures are two main predictions of climate change. These events will increase the demand of freshwater in agriculture and create major challenges for public water management at governmental scales. Irrigation alone is unlikely to solve this agricultural challenge and could exacerbate existing demands on community resources. Developing crop varieties with improved water relations provides an alternative and more sustainable solution.
Kent is a leading academic institution: 97% of our research was judged to be of international quality in the Research Excellence Framework.
