LSHTM 2025 Neil Davis Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship has been established to honour the memory of Neil Davis (a student at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine until his death in 2015) by assisting students whose work embodies the values and interests which Neil followed in his own life and career, namely finding new and creative ways to help low- and middle-income countries to adopt sound financial planning policies and practices.

Founded in 1899 at the London Docks, LSHTM is now based in Bloomsbury, where it has two main sites at Keppel Street and Tavistock Place, and additional sites in The Gambia and Uganda. Aim and Benefits of Neil Davis Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship, with a total award value of GBP 4,301.98, is intended to help fund research and travel costs associated with the MSc projects of students on the MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing course. The total funding may be awarded to a single student or split between up to 5 students (minimum award value of GBP 500.00).

Requirements for Neil Davis Memorial Scholarship Qualification

This scholarship is open to students currently registered on the intensive MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing programme at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

How to Apply

  • Log in to the Scholarships Application Portal via e-vision using your LSHTM login details.
  • Please search for ‘Neil Davis Memorial Scholarship’ if you wish to apply for this funding, and then answer all the questions online and attach any documents required as part of your application.
    • Application Form – can be accessed by clicking here. Please complete all tabs of the excel document, which includes:
      • Application Form – Complete all information on this tab of the excel document.
      • Budget – The budget should provide a full list of projected costs for the MSc project, and include justification for the costs. Please highlight which costs are to be covered by the scholarship, as well as show details of how other costs will be covered.
      • Timetable – Please provide a timetable for the project work.
      • Supervisor Letter of Support – Applicants will need to upload a supporting letter from their supervisor for the proposed project work for which they are requesting funding. You will not be able to submit your application without attaching this letter to your online application.
  • Once you are happy with all your responses you can press submit and you should receive a confirmation of receipt email at your LSHTM email address.
  • The scholarships portal will not be able to accept applications after the deadline stated below.
  • The Scholarships team will be in touch with an outcome in due course.
