EDGE Fellowship 2025-2027 call for applications is now OPEN

One of the most effective ways in which we work to secure the future of EDGE species is by strengthening, supporting, and diversifying conservation leadership. The EDGE Fellowship is a 28-month fellowship for local early-career conservationists from lower- and middle-income countries. We equip these emerging conservation leaders-EDGE Fellows-with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities required to advance their careers and spearhead effective conservation efforts for the world’s most unique and extraordinary species.

 

 

About EDGE

The EDGE of Existence programme was the first global conservation initiative to focus specifically on threatened species that represent a significant amount of unique evolutionary history. Aim and Benefits of EDGE Fellowship for Asia and the Pacific

Each fellowship involves a comprehensive programme of support and professional development opportunities comprising:

  • Six weeks of training in person: A four-week Conservation Tools Course in the focal region and an advanced two-week Conservation Impact Course in the UK, plus access to additional online training;
  • A grant of at least £10,000 for project implementation: The opportunity to fully manage your own budget plus dedicated support to leverage additional funding; and
  • Continuous mentorship and access to training and coaching opportunities with ZSL and our partners: Wrap around mentorship and access to unique training and coaching opportunities with ZSL and our partners.

 

 


EDGE Fellowship for Asia and the Pacific Courses


Requirements for EDGE Fellowship for Asia and the Pacific Qualification

You may be eligible for an EDGE Fellowship if your work focuses on an EDGE species included on the 2024 curated list, you are an early career conservationist with less than ten years of paid experience, and you are a national of the country where the proposed focal species occurs.

Interview date, Process and Venue for EDGE Fellowship for Asia and the Pacific

Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their projects with the EDGE team before applying, and we will be happy to provide feedback on draft applications submitted at least three weeks before the deadline.

Application deadline: 23:59 (BST) 7th July 2024

The application is now OPEN. A panel of experts will review all applications. Applicants will be informed of the decision in October 2024.


Documents Required for Application

  1. All applications must include the following documentation:
  2. Completed and signed application form.
  3. A map of the project site.
  4. A copy of your CV (no more than two A4 sides).
  5. A recent photograph of yourself.
  6. A copy of your risk assessment (using the ZSL template).
  7. Evidence of English competency (only if English is not your first language).
  8. If applicable, you must provide proof of your SCUBA diving skills (a scanned copy of your qualification card/certificate is sufficient).
  9. You must arrange for two letters of support from referees to be emailed to [email protected], with “EDGE Fellowship Reference_your name” as the subject, by 23.59 (BST) on July 7, 2024. One of these references must be from your incountry supervisor. These should be in Word or PDF format and not in the body of the email.

Interested and qualified? Go to EDGE on www.edgeofexistence.org to apply
  1. Read this document.
  2. Check your eligibility and that your species is on the curated list of eligible species.
  3. Complete the application in English.
  4. Prepare other required documentation.
  5. Arrange for two references, one of which must be from your in-country supervisor, to be emailed to [email protected]
  6. Submit your application by 23:59 (BST), 7 th July 2024, to the EDGE team at [email protected]

A panel of experts reviews all applications. Shortlisted applicants will be announced in October 2024.

For those who are unsuccessful but reach the latter stages of the selection process, we will try to provide feedback by the end of October, but please be patient.
