Cambridge Toshiba Japan and the World Graduate Scholarship is available to applicants for a PhD in the Faculty of Asian & Middle Eastern Studies whose research aims to place Japan within the wider context of the world. It is tenable at any College.
Offered in partnership with the Toshiba International Foundation.
The Toshiba International Foundation aims to contribute to enhanced international understanding of Japan by promoting cultural exchange. It offers support for symposia and seminars, for cultural programmes, and for research and students.
In 2020 the Foundation, in conjunction with the Cambridge Trust, will offer the Cambridge Toshiba Japan and the World Graduate Scholarship, for a PhD applicant to the Faculty of Asian & Middle Eastern Studies whose research aims to place Japan within the wider context of the world, either in its multilateral focus or through its disciplinary impact.
The Cambridge Commonwealth, European & International Trust was established on 1 August 2013 from the merger of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Cambridge Overseas Trust. These were established as charities by the University of Cambridge in the 1980s in order to provide financial support for international students on degree courses at Cambridge. The Trust awards approximately 500 scholarships annually, and supports between 1,100 and 1,400 students in residence each year from 85 countries across the world.
