The Wellington Kahotea Scholarship recognises exceptional students. We encourage applicants who have achieved exceptional academic results, or have achieved within the areas of culture, community involvement, leadership or equity.
The scholarship package includes full accommodation costs* at a Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington hall of residence in your first year, plus a stipend for three years. For students who are not in a University hall of residence, the stipend can be taken uniformly across the three years or weighted higher over the first year.

Selection will be made by the Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington Undergraduate Scholarship Committee.
Applicants are automatically considered for a Kahotea Scholarship upon application for a Wellington Tangiwai, Totoweka, Raukaraka, Pakohe, Kahurangi and/or Mana Pasifika Scholarship.
Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement as well as the areas of culture, community involvement, leadership, or equity, depending on the scholarship they applied for.
Recipients must meet all the criteria and regulations of either the Wellington Tangiwai, the Wellington Totoweka, the Wellington Raukaraka, the Wellington Pakohe, the Wellington Kahurangi or the Wellington Mana Pasifika Scholarship to be considered.
Applicants must provide all references, endorsements and documentation specific to the Wellington Totoweka, the Wellington Raukaraka, the Wellington Pakohe, the Wellington Kahurangi or the Wellington Mana Pasifika Scholarship to be considered. Please refer to each scholarship page for further information. For applicants selecting the Wellington Tangiwai Scholarship only, no additional documentation is required.
A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
