Victoria University of Wellington 2023 Joan Mattingley and Charles Cameron Scholarship is to encourage enrolment in Master’s programmes in both Chemistry and Music which may include domestic or international travel components.
The scholarship was established from the bequest of Dr Joan Mattingley, who graduated with a PhD in Biological Chemistry in 1977. Her husband Charles Cameron had a lifelong interest in music. The scholarship provides funds administered by the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation, for Master’s studies - separately in Chemistry and in Music, and can include a domestic and overseas travel component.

Value: $15,000 each (subject to funds available)
The scholarships are open to full-time or transferring students enrolling in a Master’s programme in Chemistry at the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences or students enrolling in a Master’s programme at Te K?k? - the New Zealand School of Music, Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.
The successful recipient will be selected by panels from Te K?k? - the New Zealand School of Music and from the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences following consultation with senior staff from the relevant disciplines.
Recipients will be asked to write a letter of appreciation within a month of being notified, to the family of Joan Mattingley and Charles Cameron.
Recipients will also be expected to provide a brief summary of their achievements while on the course.
A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
