University of Waikato New Zealand 2022 International Excellence Scholarship

The University welcomes applications for the University of Waikato International Excellence Scholarship from international students who are currently in New Zealand and are new to studying at Waikato, for face-to-face study in 2022 or 2023.

Students who study online with the University are not eligible to apply for the International Excellence Scholarship, with the exception of students who choose to study at the Waikato China Learning Centre (CLC) at Hainan University.

All new international students (excluding CLC students) who wish to commence their studies online in 2022 will instead be automatically awarded a 20% discount on their tuition fees and will receive a travel grant once the borders have reopened and they transfer to New Zealand for face-to-face studies.

To date, the NZ Government has announced that the New Zealand border will re-open for international students in October 2022.  The only students who are eligible to enter New Zealand earlier are students who hold a current student visa, or students who have been nominated through an approved border exception.

• The successful applicants of the International Excellence Scholarship 2022 will receive up to NZ$20,000 towards the tuition fees.

Requirements for University of Waikato Masters Scholarship Qualification

• Open to International students.
• Must have applied to undergraduate or master's program at the University.
• Not enrolled at the University.
• Received conditional or formal offer letter.
• Must be a self-funded student.
