We are pleased to announce that we are currently looking to award two fully funded studentships to outstanding PGR candidates. We welcome applications from across our specialisms in criminology, media and communications, and sociology.
As a postgraduate researcher in sociology at Surrey, you will join a diverse community of full and part-time PhD students from the UK, the EU and around the world. Our PhD students play an important part in the life and culture of our vibrant and friendly department.

Studentships will cover 3 years or pro-rata part-time: full fees (at home or international rate), an annual stipend pegged to the UKRI studentship rate.
Applicants are expected to hold at least an upper second-class honours degree in sociology or a related discipline. Together with a masters in a relevant discipline.
IELTS Academic: 7.0 or above with a minimum of 6.5 in each component (or equivalent).
