Scholarships and financial aid bursaries are part of the University of Otago’s commitment to rewarding academic excellence. Applications are invited from eligible students for Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship supporting research and enabling students from all backgrounds to realise their potential.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships recognise academic excellence, diversity, and leadership potential in supporting high-achieving students in their studies.
The University of Otago, founded in 1869 by an ordinance of the Otago Provincial Council, is New Zealand’s oldest university. The new University was given 100,000 acres of pastoral land as an endowment and authorised to grant degrees in Arts, Medicine, Law and Music. There is no formal scholarship application process.
Recipients currently studying at high school in New Zealand will be advised of the scholarship in early October. Other recipients, including those abroad, will be advised of the scholarship in their Offer of Place.
Selection of scholarship recipients is at the discretion of the University of Otago.
