University of Kent 2023 British Council GREAT Scholarship for Climate Change: India and Pakistan

The GREAT Scholarships for a Climate Change and Environmental Sciences are for international students who want to study at a UK university for a one-year postgraduate course in a climate change related subject. The scholarships are jointly funded by the British Council, the GREAT Britain Campaign and the University of Kent.

As well as the financial benefit of the scholarships, GREAT scholars will have the opportunity to attend high profile events with other scholars and special guests. We are delighted to offer dedicated two scholarship of £10,000 to one Indian passport holder, and one Pakistani passport holder.

Requirements for University of Kent British Council GREAT Scholarship for Climate Change Qualification

To be eligible for a scholarship, you must:

• Be a citizen of India or Pakistan, and be assessed as an overseas fee payer;
• Have received a conditional offer for a place on one of the following programmes for September 2023:
  • Architecture and the Sustainable Environment MSc
  • International Environmental Law LLM
  • Social Anthropology – Humanitarian and Environmental Crises MA
  • Conservation Biology MSc
  • Conservation Project Management MSc
  • Conservation and Rural Development MSc
  • Conservation and International Wildlife Trade MSc
  • Ethnobotany MSc
• Have accepted your offer before the deadline date of 28 April 2023;
• Be motivated and academically able to follow and benefit from a UK postgraduate taught course;
• Be active in the field with work experience or with a proven interest in the proposed subject area;
• Be willing to share experiences, create content and capture perceptions of studying in the UK;
• Be comfortable acting as an ambassador for GREAT Scholarships and talking about climate change; and
• Be willing to attend events upon invitation from the British Council.

Please note that the GREAT scholarship for Climate Change cannot be awarded in conjunction with any other scholarship.

Interview date, Process and Venue for University of Kent British Council GREAT Scholarship for Climate Change

Scholarships will be awarded based on the information provided on your application to the University of Kent, together with the clear thinking and motivation shown in the submitted essay.

Candidates will be informed of the outcome of this award by 30 June 2023.

The University of Kent reserves the right not to allocate the awards if the selection panel identifies no suitable candidates.

The British Council GREAT Scholarship for Climate Change is subject to full terms and conditions which will be provided to successful candidates at the point of award.

Applications for the British Council GREAT scholarship for Climate Change should be made via your applicant portal. You will only be able to apply for this scholarship once you have received an offer for your programme from the University of Kent.

In order to be considered for this award, you will need to submit the following:

• an essay of no more than 500 words about a topic you have studied previously and why you found it interesting. This topic should be related to or have inspired you to apply for your chosen degree programme.
