We are looking for excellent candidates with a strong research interest in the theoretical understanding of physical processes in living systems to strengthen our team. Our main research areas are motility of microorganisms and active matter, mechanisms and economy of gene regulation, and stochastic dynamics in cells. We are looking for candidates who will develop new directions of theoretical research in this field and are motivated to interact closely with experimental groups. In addition to carrying out research, the postdoc will contribute to teaching in theoretical biophysics and general theoretical physics at the Bachelor and Master level. Candidates are expected to have completed a Master’s degree and hold a PhD degree in Physics or a related field. They should have a strong interest in developing and applying theoretical approaches to biological problems, using both analytical and computational methods, and a strong background in statistical physics, theoretical biophysics or a related area. Very good communication skills in English are required; knowledge of German is a plus, but not necessary. The University of Göttingen is an equal opportunities employer and places particular emphasis on fostering career opportunities for women.
