The Award was established in 2017 and is funded by ACH Consulting Engineers, in memory of their colleague Michael Wesseldine, a graduate of the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering in 1969. ACH Consulting Engineers are a boutique engineering practice working across civil, structural environmental engineering, from small residential alterations to large apartment complexes, subdivisions and commercial builds.
The main purpose of the Award is to provide support to academically able students enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, who have demonstrated need for financial assistance.

Aim and Benefits of University of Auckland ACH Consulting Engineers Michael Wesseldine Award
To provide support to academically able students enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, who have demonstrated need for financial assistance.
One Award will be made annually, for a period of up to one year, and will be of the value of up to $3,500.

Requirements for University of Auckland ACH Consulting Engineers Michael Wesseldine Award Qualification
- The candidate must be enrolled and have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrolment in Part II or Part III of a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering at the University of Auckland.
- The Award is tenable by students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
- The Award will be paid in one instalment upon award.
- The Award may be held concurrently with any other scholarship, award or grant as long as the regulations for that scholarship, award or grant permit and the University of Auckland Council is informed and approves. It is the responsibility of the recipient to declare to the Scholarships Office all other scholarships, awards or grant funding received and for which the awardee receives payment while also in payment for this Award.

- Application is made to the Scholarships Office
- The basis of selection will be academic achievement and a personal statement outlining the candidate’s leadership potential, communication skills, university or community engagement and financial need
- The Award will be made by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (or nominee), one member of Academic Staff from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering nominated by the Head of Department, and one representative of the donor.
