UNESCO invites individuals, civil society actors, governmental and non-governmental entities active in strengthening foundations for peace and tolerance to propose candidates for the 2022 UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence.
UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It seeks to build peace through international cooperation in Education, the Sciences and Culture. UNESCO's programmes contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals defined in Agenda 2030, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015. Awarded every two years, on the International Day for Tolerance (16 November), the Prize is marked by a ceremony and the winner is presented with the sum of US$ 100,000.
Its purpose is to reward women, men, institutions, other entities or non-governmental organizations that have made exceptional contributions and demonstrated leadership in the promotion of tolerance and non-violence.
Tolerance recognizes the universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of others. People are naturally diverse; only tolerance can ensure the survival of mixed communities in every region of the globe.
To nominate candidates, please send the nomination form in English or French, no later than 15 June 2022, by regular mail or e-mail to the contact below.
