TWAS-IsDB 2023 Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme

The World Academy of Sciences (UNESCO-TWAS) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) are seeking nominations for the Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme

Candidates selected will be elected as TWAS Young Affiliates. The affiliateship status lasts for six years; in addition, the new Young Affiliates will be granted membership to the prestigious TWAS Young Affiliates Network (TYAN).

During their six-year tenure Young Affiliates are, among other things, invited to attend the TWAS General Meetings, conferences and panels, and may receive invitations to the regional meetings of TWAS Fellows organized by the Regional Partners.  As members of TYAN, affiliates are invited to actively contribute to the Network, which offers access to many competitive opportunities such as the TYAN Collaborative Grants Awards, TYAN International Thematic Workshops, and the newly established TYAN Outreach Programme. Aim and Benefits of TWAS-IsDB Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme

The Programme aims at supporting talented young scientists up to around 40 years of age from one of the IsDB member countries, who are currently refugees or displaced.


Requirements for TWAS-IsDB Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme Qualification

Applicants for the 2022-2023 TWAS-IsDB Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme must:

1. Be up to around 40 years of age.

2. Be a national, former national, or stateless person from one of the IsDB member countries.

2. Have been forced to leave her home country or city.

3. Hold a PhD.

Please note that the selection of candidates will take into consideration age, academic profile and geographical representation.

The deadline for receiving applications is 27 February 2023 (11.59 p.m., Rome time).

Applicants will be informed of the results of the evaluation process in July 2023.
