The MBB grant by Olatomiwa Bifarin, honors the memory of his late grandmother, Mary Babatola Bifarin [1927-2010]. A dedicated maternity nurse that hailed from Nigeria. Further information about her life can be found here. This personal grantmaking endeavor is an experiment to foster innovative thinking amongst young people in Nigeria. To foster foresight and responsibility by taking on challenging problems in the society.
This grant aims to cultivate innovative thinking among young people in Nigeria, encouraging them to address (complex) societal issues/problems proactively and with a sense of responsibility. Personal grants will also be considered.
Chief (Mrs) Mary Babatola Bifarin (Nee Tasanmi) was born on the 28th of January 1927 at Imesi-Ile to Late Benjamin Ojo of Ile Soade, Odoba Quarters, Imesi-Ile and Abigael Badejoko of Ile Loriawo, Ile Okun, Okiro also in Imesi-Ile. Mama had her elementary school education at Otapete Methodist Primary School, Imesi-Ile, from 1936 to 1943. She then proceeded to Nursing School at the Wesley Guild Hospital Ilesha in 1944, which she completed in June 1948. On the 6th of July 1948, she married Mr. Joseph Ilori Bifarin at Imesi-Ile.
