The IMETE Erasmus Mundus 2023 Joint Master’ scholarships available for European students.

The IMETE consortium has 80 ‘Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’ scholarships available on a competitive basis. The scholarships will be available for four intakes over a period of four years, from September 2022 till September 2025.

The in total 80 scholarships are divided as follows:

  • 61 scholarships will be available for Partner countries.

  • An additional 4 Partner countries scholarships have been reserved for applicants from Albania, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Kosovo and Montenegro. Candidates from these countries are strongly advised to submit an application for admission and scholarship.

  • 15 scholarships will be available for Programme countries.

Aim and Benefits of The IMETE Erasmus Mundus Joint scholarships

The scholarships all include the following amounts:

  • the students' participation costs (including the tuition fee, library and laboratory costs, full insurance coverage and any other mandatory costs related to the students' participation in the Master);

  • an allowance of EURO 1,400 per month for subsistence, student travel and installation costs for the entire 2 years duration of the EMJM study programme.

 


Requirements for The IMETE Erasmus Mundus Joint scholarships Qualification

Applicant must be a citizen of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, North Macedonia (Republic of), Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia (Republic of), Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden andTurkey.

  •  Proof that the applicant has successfully accomplished* a first degree of higher education equivalent to a B.Sc. degree (equivalent to 180 credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS))
  •  A good final mark as shown by a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least B/B+ (US System) or a classification of at least 2nd upper (UK system)
  • Degree in one of the following subjects: pure or applied sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, civil or agricultural engineering, environmental or agricultural sciences, etc.)
  • Sufficient academic knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry is an absolute requirement and basic knowledge of biology is recommended
  • Evidence of qualification in one of the internationally-recognised English language tests. More information on the English language requirements can be found here.

* Applications may be submitted before the first degree of higher education (usually B.Sc.) has been successfully completed and if at least 120 ECTS of the programme have been successfully obtained. If the applicant meets all of the other admission requirements, admission can be granted on the condition that the first degree of higher education must be obtained no later than 15 August of the year in which the programme starts.

If you do not have your English test results available before 15th January 2023, you still have the possibility to upload them before 1st March 2023 at the latest. Your application will then still be considered for a scholarship.

Interview date, Process and Venue for The IMETE Erasmus Mundus Joint scholarships

The Joint Scholarship Selection Committee (JSSC) of the consortium will be responsible for the selection procedure. The Selection Committee consists of one representative of each partner and is chaired by the coordinator of the programme, which is IHE Delft. The JSSC evaluates the applications based on the selection criteria with a maximum score of 100 points. A rating scheme was developed by the JSSC prior to the attribution of qualification points, including obtained BSc at well-known/excellent university; (relevant) work experience, publications, social activities, etc.

The following scores will be given:

  • A maximum of 30 points for the overall grade of the previous degree (or the preliminary grade status at the time of application, minimum of 120 ECTS), and importance of university in the country where the degree was obtained.?

  • A maximum of 30 points for the marks of relevant study subjects during the previous degree, other relevant academic or extra-academic qualifications, and/or relevant professional/industrial or international experience.?

  • A maximum of 20 qualification points for your motivation. In your application you have to answer 5 motivation questions. The answers you have given to those questions will be evaluated. Criteria for the evaluation are specific reference of the study programme, a clear description of own qualifications and objectives, coherence of the intended career with the study programme, and congruence of the applicant’s motivation of study with the orientation of the study programme.?

  • A maximum of 20 qualification points for the two letters of recommendation. Criteria for the evaluation of the applicants are scientific and personal potential of the candidates, especially with regard to the study programme, relevance of previous studies, and, if applicable, professional qualifications and performance with respect to the scope of the IMETE programme.

The added value of a scholarship for the applicant and his career will also be considered. 

Applications from those who have already obtained an MSc degree in a related area from a renowned university will be carefully analysed on motivation.

Based on the application material, the JSSC proposes the final list of students according to the students’ qualification rank. 

The selected candidates will be informed soon after the selection. They will receive a Student Agreement with more information that needs to be signed. In case a candidate resigns, the next one on the list will be contacted. 

Appeal procedure

  • Applicants for and Erasmus Mundus scholarship will be notified regarding academic admission after the scholarship selection has taken place. If you do not agree with the decision of the Committee on academic admission and scholarship selection and feel that the consortium/partnership has not handled your application in line with the application and selection procedures as described on the website, you have the possibility to appeal.

  • You will need to do this within seven days following notification, stating in a letter addressed to the Committee why you disagree with the decision made, providing clear justifications. You need to send the letter by email to [email protected]

  • Your appeal will be analysed by the Selection Committee and if justified, your application will be re-evaluated.

  • You will be informed about the final decision within 14 days.

All information and documents should be provided in English. If any of the original documents is not in English, an official English translation is required by a sworn translator, in addition to the once in the original language.

Authenticated or certified copies are copies with an official stamp to verify that the copies are true copies of original documents. This official stamp may be from one of the following: a solicitor/notary, the educational institution from where the student gained the diplomas or the local council/local authority/local government office. In case you have not yet obtained your BSc degree, and you are in the last year of your study, please attach a statement from your university confirming that you are in the last year of your BSc study (instead of copy of your BSc diploma) and stating that you are expected to graduate before 15 August 2023. Also attach the transcript showing the subjects you followed and the marks and EC obtained so far.

Apply for admission and Erasmus Mundus scholarship for the IMETE programme by completing and submitting the online application form available at this website under the heading "applications and scholarships" (scroll down on this page).  Make sure that before you start to apply online, you have collected the documents you need to upload. There is no separate application procedure for Erasmus Mundus scholarship.

At the question in the application form, where you have to indicate how you are going to finance your study, you have to select: Erasmus Mundus scholarship. If you have double nationality, the nationality which you fill in in your online application, together with the passport you have uploaded will be leading to categorize you under either partner or programme country scholarship. Further under this website under the category Application procedure for scholarship, you can find more information which countries are considered to be partner and which are considered to be programme countries.

  • Students whose nationality is one of the Partner Countries count as Partner Country students.

  • Students whose nationality is one of the Programme Countries count as Programme Country students. 

  • Students with a double nationality (of a Partner and of a Programme Country) must specify the nationality
    under which they submit their scholarship application. Please upload both passports as 1 pdf.
