The Society for Underwater Technology awards a selection of scholarships every year, to recognise exceptional students and provide targeted financial support to see them complete their studies and start their career in the industry.
Applicants are welcome from all manner of backgrounds that have a connection with offshore (or ocean) technology, ranging from underwater technology, marine and ocean science, underwater robotics, renewable energy, offshore and subsea infrastructure, metocean and many more.
The primary measure for awarding these scholarships is how well applicants demonstrate their passion to pursue a career in the industry through their work to date and aspirations for the future.
We are offering up to four scholarships for 2024 as outlined below. In addition to the scholarships, the winners will receive networking opportunities and attendance at a SUT short course.
The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) is a multidisciplinary learned society that brings together organisations and individuals with a common interest in underwater technology, ocean science and offshore engineering. UP TO FOUR SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE:
SUT Excellence Scholarship of $5000 (includes one free attendance at a SUT short course. This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding candidate in the field of Subsea Engineering, Marine Science, and Underwater Technology. This scholarship is funded by SUT Perth Branch.
Marine Renewable Energy Scholarship of $5000 (includes one free attendance at a SUT short course): This scholarship will be awarded to the applicant with the most potential to make a significant contribution to the development of marine renewable energy through their studies, research or career ambitions. This scholarship is kindly sponsored by:
Digital Automation in Engineering Scholarship of $5000 (includes one free attendance at a SUT short course): This scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who has shown initiative during their studies, by applying programming skills to complement, automate and improve their subsea analysis and design work, and aspires to work in the subsea industry. This scholarship is kindly sponsored by:
Chris Lawlor Scholarship of $2500: This scholarship will be awarded to the most outstanding winner among all three scholarships.
Selection will be on the basis of the information provided in the application form, the academic transcripts and an interview of the short-listed candidates. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the assessment before the end of October 2024.
