The SMART Balkans Project announces the Public Call for Applications for National Interventions Grant

SMART Balkans Project, funded by the Norway Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is implemented by a consortium of organizations: Centar za promociju civilnog drustva (CPCD) from Bosnia and Herzegovina as a Lead Applicant, in partnership with the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM) from North Macedonia, and Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) from Albania.

The overall objective of the Project is to contribute to strengthening participatory democracies and Euro-Atlantic integrations in the Western Balkans by empowering civil society organizations and CSO networks to play a stronger and more active role in creating peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

Specific objectives of the SMART Balkans project are:

• Stronger, more sustainable, and vibrant CSOs in the six countries of the Western Balkans region
• Developed strong regional partnerships between civil society organizations from the region of the Western Balkans themselves and with their EU counterparts and public authorities
• Increased effectiveness of citizen influencing change through CSOs that advances Security and Stability and Governance in the Western Balkans region
• Increased awareness of public on importance of active participation of civil society in major development initiatives in the region of Western Balkans

Aim and Benefits of SMART Balkans National Interventions Grant

National intervention Grants will provide funding for projects related to two main areas:

1. Security and Stability
2. Governance

Within this call, at least 33 grants will be awarded in six Western Balkans countries, with a total value of 8 223 685 NOK (approximately 708 938 EUR).

Requirements for SMART Balkans National Interventions Grant Qualification

Be a citizen of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

Ability to contribute in strengthening participatory democracies and Euro-Atlantic integrations in the Western Balkans by empowering civil society organizations and CSO networks to play a stronger and more active role in creating peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development

These instructions are designed to guide you through the registration process for web-based Grants Management Platform (GMP).

Before you start with the registration process it is important to know that only legal representative of the organization, or the legal entity can proceed with the registration on the GMP. At the later state, upon approved grants, for the purpose of the administration of the grants legally authorized representative of the registered organization, or legal entity may authorize another user of the GMP.

The supporting documents listed below should be uploaded in order for you to complete the registration process. Please have them ready in pdf or word format before you start the registration process:

• Legal document on registration
• Statute
• Financial reports (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
• Audit Reports
• Strategic Plan
• Annual Report

By clicking “Register” button you will access two forms. After you complete them and upload required documents you will create the profile and include basic information about your organization. This profile will be used for all grant communication, so please make sure it is up-to-date and fully accurate. This profile will be also visible to all other registered members of the GMP.

Fields with no (optional) label next to them are required and must be completed or you will not be able to submit your registration request.

Once complete your registration request, click the “Register” button at the screen.

After review of your registration request you will receive an e-mail:

1. that confirming your registration and providing you with option to create a username and a password and giving you instructions on how to proceed with the application process
2. that instructing you to provide additional information or documents
3. that informing you that your registration request can not be proceeded further
