The Sainsbury Management Fellowship (SMF) scheme, funded by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, is the MBA scholarship scheme of the Engineers in Business Fellowship. The scheme enables engineers of high career potential to undertake a full time MBA, at major international business schools.
The overall aim of SMF is to develop UK engineers as industry leaders, and to improve the economic performance of UK businesses by providing a resource of highly motivated engineers with a first-class business education, in an international environment.
Since 1987, the scheme has supported more than 375 engineers.
Sainsbury Management Fellows have an excellent track record in securing leadership roles in UK industry and have made a major contribution to the UK’s economic prosperity.

Applicants who have previously applied and were invited for interview are not eligible to reapply.
Applicants who have previously applied and were not invited for interview may reapply after a period of two years from the original application.

Fellowships are tenable for full time MBA courses only. The scheme does not support part-time, distance learning, or executive MBA courses.

You may submit an application at any time prior to starting your MBA course, however, we suggest you do not apply until you have submitted an application to one of the eligible business schools and think you will have a decision before the SMF interviews. Applicants who have already started at business school are also eligible to apply.
Applicants who are invited to interview will only be invited once they have a confirmed place at an eligible business school. If your place is confirmed after you have submitted your application please send confirmation to the Programme Manager.
