With ICs exceeding billions of transistorsThis project, in collaboration between Infineon Technologies and the Advanced Reliable Computer Systems Group at Oxford Brookes University, will investigate AI/ML assisted fast and efficient solutions to the problem of IC verification, one of the most difficult steps in an IC’s design cycle. With ICs exceeding billions of transistors, the costs of tests and verification are often over half of the total cost of the entire design. This project will investigate and identify which test/verification components will most likely benefit from AI/ML algorithms, and identify the most effective types of AI/ML algorithms. AI/ML based solutions will be developed for significant reduction in verification costs, while maintaining highest degree of accuracy and reliability. The outcome will be evaluated against existing approaches for their effectiveness and pathways will be provided for integration into existing verification frameworks. This project is expected to significantly expand the fields of Electronic Design Automation and AI., the costs of tests and verification are often over half of the total cost of the entire design.
