We are currently advertising full-time DOMESTIC (MQRES) and full-time INTERNATIONAL (iMQRES) Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarships.
All four scholarships cover a bundled 2nd year Master of Research plus PhD program. However, students can start directly into a PhD program if they meet specific selection requirements.
Macquarie University and the Macquarie University Centre for the Health Economy (MUCHE) have partnered with five pharmaceutical companies to develop a unique and innovative HDR program, the first of its kind in Australia. These partners include Amgen Australia, Janssen Australia, MSD Australia, Pfizer Australia, and Roche Australia.
The program is aimed at students willing to undertake research relevant to the Australian pharmaceutical sector and government. This could include:
While research questions will be determined by the student and their supervisor, students can also draw on outcomes from an annual pharmaceutical sector research workshop that will be organised and facilitated by MUCHE. Previous workshop outcomes can be found here.

Students will receive a generous stipend of $50,045 per annum (2021 rate, tax exempt). This consists of a base stipend of $28,597 p.a. and a top-up stipend of $21,448 p.a. Candidates will also receive a tuition-fee offset scholarship.
Successful scholarship applicants may also seek to undertake Research Assistant work to supplement their scholarship stipend (up to 14 hours per week).
Students will also receive $1,000 over the second year of the Master of Research and $10,000 over the course of the PhD for research related activities, such as travel to present at conferences, training, copy editing, thesis production.
completed Macquarie University Master of Research with at least 75 per cent in second year; or completed a Master of Philosophy; or completed a Masters (at least two years) from another institution with a major research component (a thesis component of approximately 50 per cent of the degree and 20,000 words) at distinction level.
