This award was established to honor Dr. William L. Richter, the retired Associate Provost for International Programs, and to provide financial assistance to international students properly enrolled in any curriculum at K-State. Preference will be given to international students who have financial need, and show academic potential. Selection will be made in the Spring of each year and funds are available for awarding to begin the following Fall. Please see the guidelines to verify eligibility.

Successful applicants of the William L. Richter International Scholarship, 2022 will receive a scholarship value of $500.
Step 1: Complete the online application form through Qualtrics. To access the form, click on the link on the bottom of this page. You can go back to your incomplete application multiple times, however, once you have signed and submitted your form, you will not be able to return to make any changes or submit a new application. Within the application form, you will be asked to upload a recommendation letter from a K-State faculty or staff member. You will not be considered for a scholarship without a recommendation letter. The recommendation letter should be a maximum of 500 words. Letters should address the following questions: How long and in what capacity have you known the student? How has the student been involved in the campus community? What makes this student outstanding in comparison to his/her peers and why does the student deserve this scholarship? In what aspects are you aware how this scholarship may help the applicant financially? Step 2: Your application will be reviewed by a scholarship committee after the March 11 submission deadline. All applicants will be informed of the committee’s decision regarding their application by Friday, April 8. *Kansas State Scholarship Network (KSN) Applicants: If you have submitted an application for the Joe Tiao, Philip & Jeune Kirmser, William L. Richter, Do Sup Chung, M& H Taiwan and Costa Rican Student Scholarships on the Kansas State Scholarship Network, you will still need to submit your application on Qualtrics as we need additional information from you.
