IRENA Youth Forum: The New Generation of Decision Makers 2024

Mark your calendars and get ready for the International Renewable Energy Agency’s (IRENA) fifth Youth Forum, themed “The New Generation of Decision Makers.” This dynamic event is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in conjunction with the fourteenth session of the IRENA Assembly from April 15 to April 18, 2024.

A Gathering Of Global Leaders

The IRENA Assembly serves as the ultimate decision-making authority for the agency, where Heads of State/Government, Ministers, and key stakeholders from around the world converge to discuss and advance the global energy transition. Against this backdrop, the 2024 IRENA Youth Forum aims to empower and connect young minds with influential leaders, government representatives, and IRENA experts.

Shaping The Future Of Renewable Energy

Scheduled through a series of interactive sessions, open dialogues, and thematic workshops, the forum provides a unique space for young individuals, aged 16 to 35, to contribute their perspectives to the global energy discourse. By fostering connections and networks, the event seeks to strengthen the role of youth in advancing IRENA’s mission to accelerate renewable energy deployment, achieve climate objectives, and promote sustainable development.

Through a series of interactive sessions, including open dialogues and thematic workshops, participants will be able to add a youth perspective to the global energy discourse.

Aim and Benefits of IRENA Youth Forum

The event strives for a global and balanced geographical representation of youth and highly encourages applications from youth in LDCs, SIDS and developing countries.

Upon selection, full sponsorship, including travel and accommodations, will be provided for up to 35 participants.

Requirements for IRENA Youth Forum Qualification

Interested youth of a minimum age of 16 years.

Interested youth of a minimum age of 16 years can submit their application by completing an application form and providing the following documents:

• Curriculum Vitae
• Brief essay on a topic of particular interest to youth pertaining to renewable energy and sustainable development; this could also include a project the applicants have worked on or are working on at the moment (1000/1200 words)

If you’re a young individual passionate about renewable energy and committed to driving progress in this field, you can submit your application by completing the provided form. The deadline for individual applications is January 31, 2024, midnight (Abu Dhabi local time).
