Aim and Benefits of Women In Public Office: South Africa Programme
This programme will help you to:
- Gain a deeper understanding of your public purpose and personal narrative
- Understand the complexities and practicalities of a life in the public eye and how to navigate these
- Learn practical skills in the art of influence, persuasion and negotiation required for running election campaigns
- Become equipped with the tools to enhance awareness and improve decision-making in the delivery of your mandate
- Learn about the importance of managing a successful transition into public office
- Gain skills needed to be resilient amidst the challenges that may come with your public leadership journey
Requirements for Women In Public Office: South Africa Programme Qualification
To be eligible for the Women in Public Office: South Africa Programme you must:
- Be an elected public representative seeking re-election in 2024 or a new candidate planning to run for public office in the upcoming 2024 general elections in South Africa.
- Be a proven and ethical leader in your chosen profession, educational institution, community and society;
- Reside in South Africa and be eligible to contest for office in the 2024 national and provincial elections;
- be aged between 18-45, although applicants slightly outside this age-range will also be considered.

The programme runs for 9 months. Our fellows are required to attend seven in-residence seminars which each take place over four days and three nights. Our seminar weekends usually start on Friday and end on Monday.
