The purpose of the Research Preparation Scholarship for Indigenous Students is to support an indigenous student for one year, while undertaking a program of study that will, on completion, qualify them for admission to a research higher degree. Such studies may include; honours study; post graduate course work; research projects; bridging programs, or other studies needed in order for the applicant to qualify them in principle for a research higher degree program. The successful awardee will able to demonstrate academic potential and explain how their education has been compromised by the lack of suitable educational pathways or how financial hardship may have hindered academic potential.

The value of the scholarship will be equivalent to the current Flinders University Research Scholarship rate for up to one year of study. The scholarship will be paid in fortnightly payments and will commence once the successful awardee has evidence of full time enrolment in the approved pathway degree.

The Scholarships Committee will consider applications and select the successful applicant; the Scholarships Committee also reserves the right to not award a Research Preparation Scholarship for Indigenous Students if they deem that there are no suitable applicants.
