The Lesley Shorne Memorial Scholarship was established in 2011. The Scholarship will recognise and support a mature age woman in the Doctor of Medicine in a Commonwealth supported place at Flinders University.
The Scholarship aims to support a woman who has a demonstrated commitment to improving the well-being of women through their involvement as a volunteer, through work or study in the areas of Health, Education Safety, Social Justice, Poverty or Advocacy.
The Lesley Shorne Scholar will be expected to attend an annual event and will have opportunities to participate in a network associated with the Lesley Shorne Scholars.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.
