Flinders University 2023 Palaeontology Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

The scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to a student from a rural or regional area who is commencing the Bachelor of Science (Palaeontology). One scholarship will be available per year, subject to funding.

In 2018, in celebration of the 30-year anniversary of palaeontology at Flinders University, the student run Flinders University Palaeontology Society undertook fundraising activities to establish the Flinders University Palaeontology Scholarship.

About Flinders University

Aim and Benefits of Flinders University Palaeontology Scholarship

Each scholarship will have a value of $2,000 paid in equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

Requirements for Flinders University Palaeontology Scholarship Qualification

Applicants for the scholarship must:

• Normally be enrolled full-time at Flinders University; and
• Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or permanent humanitarian visa holder; and
• Be commencing the Bachelor of Science (Palaeontology); and
• Have a permanent home address in regional or rural Australia as defined by the Australian Geographic Standards Classification (AGSC).

Scholarships are available to part-time students in exceptional circumstances, which includes (but is not limited to) disability, illness or carer responsibilities. Part-time scholarships will be paid-pro rata.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Flinders University Palaeontology Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

• Academic merit
• Demonstrated interest in palaeontology
• Geographical location

Scholarship selection will be made by a panel in the College of Science and Engineering.

Applications should be submitted online through the Flinders University Student System by the specified closing date. 

Students should ensure their permanent home address is recorded correctly on the Student Information System as this information will be used as part of the assessment process.
