The scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to a student from a rural or regional area who is commencing the Bachelor of Science (Palaeontology). One scholarship will be available per year, subject to funding.
In 2018, in celebration of the 30-year anniversary of palaeontology at Flinders University, the student run Flinders University Palaeontology Society undertook fundraising activities to establish the Flinders University Palaeontology Scholarship.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. Each scholarship will have a value of $2,000 paid in equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

Scholarships are available to part-time students in exceptional circumstances, which includes (but is not limited to) disability, illness or carer responsibilities. Part-time scholarships will be paid-pro rata.

Scholarship selection will be made by a panel in the College of Science and Engineering.
