The Flinders NT Health Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students studying Flinders University courses delivered in the Northern Territory. The scholarship has been established through a generous initial donation from Professor Jonathan Craig and contributions from the community.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. Flinders is a verdant university[citation needed] and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and ranks in the 10-16 bracket in Australia and 36th in the world of those established less than 50 years. Each scholarship will have a value of $5,000 per annum paid in equal instalments after the census date of each semester. Two scholarships will be available per year for the duration of the funding.

Of the two scholarships available per year, one will be reserved for students who meet the following additional criteria:
Part-time recipients will be paid pro-rata.
Selection Criteria
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated contribution to the community.
Northern Territory residents (students who have lived in the Northern Territory for a minimum of 5 years) will be prioritised. Following this, students who have a permanent home address in regional or rural Australia will be prioritised.
Selection of the candidate(s) will be made by a Rural and Remote Health Northern Territory panel and Academic and Student Services.
