Thank you for your interest in the Croucher Foundation. One of our regular funding initiatives is to provide financial support for promising young people in Hong Kong who are looking to pursue scientific research at a doctoral level in Hong Kong.
Croucher Studentships allow you to devote yourself to a period of full-time study or research in natural sciences, technology and medicine in approved academic institutions in Hong Kong, leading to a PhD degree.

Croucher Foundation is an independent private foundation dedicated to promoting the standard of the natural sciences, technology and medicine in Hong Kong. We are funded by a trust established by the late Noel Croucher in 1979. As a holder of a Croucher Studentship, you can expect to receive the following benefits:
Croucher Studentships may be held concurrently with a university postgraduate studentship or any other award.
To be eligible to apply, you must:
Please note that an MPhil transfer to doctoral candidature is not considered equivalent to an ordinary MPhil or MSc.
You are also welcome to apply if you are in your final year of your first degree, but any offer of an award will be conditional on your gaining First-Class Honours or equivalent qualifications by July 2025.
Holders of a studentship must be full-time students.
Short-listed candidates will be invited to attend an interview in March/April 2025.
If you are not contacted by late April, you may consider that you have not been shortlisted. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide feedback on unsuccessful applications. We aim to write to unsuccessful applicants by late May, if not earlier.

All documents should be submitted as PDF files (unencrypted), with a maximum size of 8 MB each.
We will not be able to proceed with your application if there is any doubt about your residential status; for example, because you have not provided the right documentation.

Your application should be submitted via Croucher Foundation’s online application system. For the 2025-26 selection exercise, your application must be submitted by 5pm (Hong Kong time) on 15 November 2024.

Please invite two referees to provide signed letters of reference on your behalf.
These should include your full name and be written on official letterhead.
