Founded in 1919, the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is a national, non-profit, nonpartisan organization of nearly 10,000 women university graduates in 122 clubs across Canada. It is a member of the International Federation of University Women, and affiliation of 77 national associations and federations around the world.
CFUW provides its members with an opportunity to enjoy fellowship, to be stimulated and informed, to promote education through the awarding of scholarships, bursaries and grants, and to improve the status of women and human rights in general.
CFUW Charlottetown received its charter on August 16, 1955. Since that time, the Club has worked tirelessly to educate its members and the general public on matters of importance to all women. Studies included: the Marriage Act, minimum wage for women, pornography, abortion, child abuse, and education in depth. CFUW Charlottetown continues to inform its members on current issues so they may add their voice to those involved in improving the status of women.

Awarded to two (2) masters and/or doctoral students who have resided in PEI for 5 of the last 15 years and are pursuing a graduate degree in the area of Arts, Education, Science, Vet Science or Nursing. One award of a minimum $5,000 in the area of Arts or Education and one award of a minimum $5,000 in the area of Sciences or Nursing are available each year.
Granted to masters and/or doctoral students who have resided in the province of Prince Edward Island for 5 of the last 15 years.
Eligible applicants are students enrolled in or applying to a full-time Masters or PhD program at UPEI, or UPEI graduates enrolled in or applying to a full-time Masters or PhD program at another accredited Canadian university.
Students applying to a graduate program must be accepted and enrolled in the program by September 1 of the application year.
There are two scholarships available:
Veterinary Science or Nursing Upholding the commitment of CFUW since 1919, preference will be given to female students. It is intended that no student receive the same award more than once
Applications must include a letter of interest, transcript and two(2) letters of reference to UPEI scholarship committee, Registrar's office
