Arizona State University (ASU) 2023-2024 Global Education Planning Scholarship, USA

ASU Global Education Planning Scholarships provide first generation undergraduate college students with the opportunity to also be the first in their families to participate in a Global Education program by reducing the financial barrier that may prevent some students from considering this option. Global Education programs are frequently cited as a milestone in a student’s personal development, and ASU wants to make sure first generation college students have additional funding opportunities to make this dream a reality.

Scholarship recipients will be surveyed on their Global Education interests and connected with GEO staff to start planning for an international experience, students will also commit to completing a follow-on project.  Scholarship recipients are also encouraged to attend various GEO workshops and information sessions throughout their planning process.

Aim and Benefits of Arizona State University Global Education Planning Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to help students plan ahead!  Each recipient will have five (5) semesters starting spring semester of their sophomore year to use this award. 

Benefits:

20 ASU Global Education Planning Scholarships in the amount of $4,000 to be used on any traveling GEO program

Requirements for Arizona State University Global Education Planning Scholarship Qualification

The ASU Global Education Planning Scholarship allows students to participate on any ASU-approved global education program during the summer, semester, academic year and/or calendar year (including spring-break, post-spring, etc.). To be eligible for the ASU Global Education Planning Scholarship, students must:

• Be a first-generation undergraduate college student (as reported through FAFSA);
• Have the equivalent of two full-time semesters of completed and posted ASU credit hours at the time of application (be a rising Sophomore);
• Have a minimum cumulative ASU GPA of 2.0 at the time of application;
• Demonstrate financial need and have a current FAFSA on file with ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services at the time of application;
• Be in good standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Arizona State University Global Education Planning Scholarship

• July, 2023: application opens
• September 1, 2023: application closes, 11:59pm AZ time
• September 15, 2023: notification to applicants

ASU Global Education Planning Scholarship recipients will be able to utilize their scholarship for a program in the next five semesters (starting in spring 2024). Applicants interested in pursuing a spring 2024 GEO program are encouraged to apply early and work with their International Coordinator regarding program deadlines to ensure they will have sufficient time to plan.

• One extended essay question (minimum 500 words)
  • How will pursuing a global education program help you to achieve at least one career/academic goal? 
• Basic profile information to be used for publications
• Signed release form
• Terms of agreement

NOTE: applicants will be directed to choose Academic Year 2023-2024 as the selected term, but please note that this scholarship is to be used for spring 2024 and beyond.
