We are Women of the South Speak Out (WOSSO)

WOSSO is a consortium formed by two prominent Southern Women’s Rights Organisations (WROs), Gender Links and ARROW and a renowned UK based development firm, MannionDaniels.

Vision

A world in which the voices of women and girls from the global south, in all our diversity, inform the decisions and policies that affect our lives.

Achieved by

Amplifying the voices of women and girls from the global south to advocate for our rights.

Enhancing the skills and knowledge for WROs to meaningfully participate in making change.

Our values

We share feminist values and a deep concern regarding the narrowing civic space, particularly for women and girls.

Common values:

  1. Collaboration;

  2. Feminist movement-building;

  3. Intersectionality;

  4. Challenging traditional power structures and

  5. Centring lived experience

WOSSO will support and facilitate women’s rights organisations and women leaders, to ensure their meaningful engagement in key advocacy meetings.

Intersectionality

Everyone has their own, unique experiences of being a woman and as WOSSO we make it our priority to consider everything that makes a woman feel marginalised. To achieve equality we must consider intersectionality. As WOSSO, we support diverse women and women’s rights organisations to take the lead, use their voices to guide policies, and call for change.

Challenging traditional power structures

Gender Links, which operates from the Global South, leads WOSSO. To authentically advance gender equality, we engage in partnerships, attentively valuing the input of women, women’s rights groups, and movements across Africa, MENA, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific.

Centring lived experience

In solidarity with women and women’s rights organisations, WOSSO draws wisdom and direction from the rich and diverse life experiences and expertise of grassroots women from the Global South.
